A conference, an anniversary and a countdown…

Phillip Howell-Richardson and Michel Kallipetis QC, both board members of the International Academy of Mediators (IAM), have recently returned from a conference held jointly by IAM and the Arbitrators and Mediators Institute of New Zealand (AMINZ) in New Zealand.

The conference brought together mediators and arbitrators from numerous countries to explore different techniques and share experiences. Phillip Howell-Richardson gave one of the keynote talks which was entitled, ‘International Mediation and Voyaging in the Unknown.’ Phillip examined the creativity in approach that mediators must have in mind when mediating complicated international cases.

Michel Kallipetis QC gave a talk on ethics in mediation entitled, ‘On the ethical edge. ’ The audience were drawn to participate in this thought provoking session.

Kate Jackson

We are approaching the first anniversary of Kate Jackson joining Independent Mediators. Kate had been mediating for many years prior to joining last year and we were delighted when she accepted our invitation. Her first year has exceeded all expectations in terms of the number of mediations in which Kate has been appointed and the seamless transfer of her practice management. This has been capped by Kate being selected for a Lawyer Monthly – Women in Law 2016 Award in recognition of her outstanding legal expertise and contribution within the practice area of Commercial Disputes Mediator of the Year.

Andrew Paton

We are now only 7 weeks away from Andrew Paton joining us. Andrew will be with Independent Mediators from 3 May 2016. We have Andrew’s diary dates from May onwards already so if you would like to check dates or obtain any other information on Andrew’s practice then please do contact us and we would be delighted to assist.
